A plea to Martin Lawrence
After recently seeing the trailer for the new film College Road Trip I found myself feeling extremely angry!
Martin Lawrence…. please please stop making these dumb films. You are a good actor. Earlier films such as Nothing to Lose and Bad Boy showed great potential and I was sure he would keep going onto bigger and better things, like his Bad Boys co-star Will Smith.
Sadly he has let himself be caught up following Eddie Murphy’s footsteps and turning up in one clichéd film after another.
Please no more Martin in female fatsuits.
Please stop trying to be Eddie Murphy, he just is not that funny anymore.
And finally….. just find a decent compelling script and show us that you still have what it takes.

Ok rant is over… I am only saying this because I respect you Martin.

This is actually something that I’d considered myself, I like you thought he was really opposite Will Smith in the Bad Boys movies. H
owever the direction he’s taken since is a shame, especially since he’s a very funny guy in the right context and that for me is not in kids films, but in movies with adult humour and language.

Agreed in full…..

The trouble is, Eddie Murphy was funny, Martin Lawrence’s attempt at humorous movies is not working. I just this minute saw an ad for this film and I can’t imagine anyone paying $8+ at a movie theater to see it.

Hmm, I agree with you completly here!
I hate it when great/good/respected actors start taking on roles on crap-sounding movies!!
It was teh same with John Travolta when he started doing that movie “be cool”… That movie was shit (i thought so…) and the high respected image i had of him quickly faded!
Good blog and great content! keep it up!

I actually though the Rock was funny in Be Cool but agreed the movie was pretty awful.
