A wild trip, remembering last year
Thinking back to this time last year, I worked as a Freelance graphic designer, I was not blogging that seriously and I was dating my partner Lara from a distance. Things have certainly changed.
Around this time last year I had a planned trip to Montreal to visit Lara. It was my third time last year to Montreal so that in itself was not that new anymore. Still, what was special was that Lara was finishing university for the summer and we could send some time together without essays and classes getting in the way.
After arriving and being around Montreal for a few days Lara thought that it could be a good idea to introduce me to some of her family down in Vermont. This sounded like a great idea to me. The only thing I had ever previously experienced in the US was the inside of Detroit Airport, not really an indication of the quality of the country!
So she called her sister but she was in Boston which was too far and then she called her brother. Her brother mentioned that he was going to work, packing chutes, that weekend at a drop zone (sky diving place) in Maine and offered s to come.
Then he also said, we could divert to Boston and see their sister!
So from never seeing the US before I was suddenly enrolled in a crazy road trip to visit 3 states! And it was great.
I was really looking forward to Boston and when we arrived after a long time in the car, I was not disappointed.
There was a huge charity march, a street festival and we even visited Harvard. The street festival has some of the nicest Indian street curry that I have ever had in North America. Boston is a great feeling city, it’s vibrant and calm, modern and old and I really need to get back there some time soon. We didn’t take any tours or anything but I definitely will spend a bit ore time doing touristy things like museums the next time I visit. There are definitely plenty of things to do in Boston.
I definitely want to try and visit some other US cities this year aswell.
