So the guy on the free credit report advert is faking….

free credit report lie!
I am sure we have all seen the advert with the singing guy for the Experian owned FreeCreditReport.com… well an article I recently read MSNBC (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26061279/) talked about the fact that the actor isn’t really in credit trouble and isn’t that guy! (as far as they know) and is therefore faking the identity in a way…

This actually does not bother me too much. It’s hardly a shock that he is an actor but an interesting thing it pointed out was the the talk of fear and how people sign up to such deals without reading the fine print.

Free Credit Report obviously isn’t totally free, otherwise they would not have money to advertise. They make you sign up with a credit card for a montly fee. You get 7 days free in which you can cancel the monthly membership.

I used it before and I canceled so it was ok. It shows…. you have to read the small print and I always do.

The way they are doing business has been peeing people off. Bob Sullivan, New York Times bestselling author wrote a big anti Free Credit Report article against all the red tape and now the recent ads have over 70 parody’s running around You Tube.

I am not so much against them but always approach such deals cautiously.

Identity theft is a real problem. lifelock feels that they offer a real solution.

Hey Forest. Yes you have to read everything, before you sign up for anything, good advice there buddy. Unfortunately there are some people who are desperate or in dire financial situations that need financial services and sites like this prey upon that bad need.
Its a good market to be in if you’re going to offering some real help. But sadly some people dont seem to want to offer real help to people who need it.
