A day from hell, but hey I am on Holiday!!
Wow this blog is getting neglected, but hey I am on holiday!
I should have said earlier but I got all caught up in real life. I am taking some frugal time away from manic Montreal and chilling out and relaxing in the beautiful surroundings of Vermont.
Sadly I have not managed to cut out work completely though… this is the peril of being self employed!
Whilst here in VT I don’t have much control of my whereabouts. We stay with a few friends and Girlfriend’s family members and I ended up without any internet access on Wednesday.
I had promised a client a job and could not deliver!
So when yesterday morning came and I had talked to the client with the promise of it being done early on Thurs…. my normally trusty Macbook decided to be stubborn and not start up!
I tried everything to boost it back into life and had to call it quits without external help. As I was on holiday my Mac OSX Tiger disks were sleeping in a box in Montreal, so I decided to go to the shops.
The lady who owns the house I am at offered to drive me down town to the store “Small Dog Electronics”. They are the local mac specialists.. I am lucky Burlington has one!
So we get there at 9 dead….. in typical VT style, they don’t opne until 10… Gladly Starbucks inside Barns and Noble did.
I waited stressed for an hour and then ran over at 10. The tech guy confirmed that the computer should be ok, although he did want to take it in for 2 days to diganose! I took the chance and purchased the latest Mac OSX…. 2 hours later and a first attempted restart failed… my ailing mac coghed and spluttered back to life!
My client was very understanding and I am almost back on track… just a day or two behind on some of my jobs and stressing a little too much for what is supposed to be a holdiay
But I will look back and laugh!
Gladly I am off to a skydiving drop zone in Maine this weekend for a Tiki party….. no blogging for me there, but maybe I’ll post pics.
See ya soon,
Forest.

Glad you got it all sorted eventually, did the new OSX cost you a bunch of cash then? As a PC user, I’ve only read in PC magazines that the Mac OS upgrades are another way that Apple keeps making money out of it’s users where Microsoft would normally just release a Service Pack?

Ha thanks for stopping by guys…. all is well that ends well, right?
Zath… the OS cost $140… I was loathed to pay it but it does have a hell of a lot of updates and looks very different.. They only do it every now and then so I think generally includes more than a service pack.
